1 Prelude
Everyone has the three egos below and context switch between them.
- Three Egos
- Parent - Wisdom, Heuristic shortcuts derived sociocultural knowledge
- Adult - Deduction, The objective deductive/bayesian reasoner
- Child - Creativity, The intuitive subconscious drive
The Adult is the mediator between Parent and Child, as both Parent and Child are not rational.
2 Simple Transaction
Simple Transaction is a conversation of 1 Stimuli, 1 Response
- Parent-Parent : Gossip about not aligning to social norms
- Adult-Adult : Solving Problems like (Working in a group project)
- Child-Child : Playing Together
2.1 Mismatch Transactions
Adult ego stimuli is expecting an Adult ego stimuli response BUT the other party sees the person as the Parent ego and gives a Child ego response.
- Alice {Expects Adult-Adult} : Maybe we should find out why you’ve been going out so much lately. (Adult stimuli)
- Bob {Expects Parent-Child} : You sound just like my mother always getting in my business. (Child response)
Resolution of mismatch transactions: * Possibility 1: Bob converts to {Adult-Adult} : My time outside the office is not relevant to this matter anyways. * Possibility 2: Alice converts to {Parent-Child} :
3 Manipulation
- Salesman: This one is better, you can’t afford it. (Mix: Adult-Adult stimulus, Parent-Child stimulus)
- Woman : That’s the one I will take. (Parent-Child response)
