• population stratification(population structure) - we can use genotype to distinguish populations.
  • Why? Understanding population stratification is neccessary when we map genotype to traits b/c ancestry may be a confounding variable.
  • How? Stratification is caused by non-random mating
  • What? fixation index is used to measure population stratification
